Trace’s world was once small but full of love. He spent his life with one devoted owner who adored him, but he was never socialized outside of their home. When his owner’s health declined and they entered hospice care, Trace’s life was turned upside down. Suddenly, everything he knew was gone, and he found himself scared, confused, and searching for comfort.

This beautiful Shetland Sheepdog is looking for a patient and understanding family to help him rebuild his sense of security. He thrives in a calm, quiet home where he can adjust at his own pace. Loud noises and sudden movements still make him nervous, but once he trusts you, he transforms into the most loyal, loving companion. He greets his favorite people with an excited wag and a happy prance, and his absolute favorite activity is playing fetch—he’ll chase after the ball as many times as you’re willing to throw it.

Trace does well with other dogs and even gets along with cats, but he needs an adult-only home where he can feel completely at ease. He’s incredibly intelligent and eager to bond, but new experiences can still make him anxious, so patience and consistency will be key in helping him feel safe.
